Exercise: family hike
0-3 at 9:15am
glass of veg/fr juice
0-5 at 11:30am
2 pcs toast (w/ topping), some candy/choc., cappaccino
Note: This was just too much stuff for lunch. I knew I wouldn't be hungry in time for supper....and then I was really "sunk" when we opted to go to the park and had an early family bonfire supper...which I chose to partake in.
?-5? at 4:30pm
2 pc bannock w/ marg/cin sugar, chips, hot chocolate, s'more (2 cookies to make the s'more with marshmallow) and then 2 more cookies (eek!) and maybe 2 plain marshmallows
Purpose of this Log
1. To help hold me accountable to myself and to the Lord. It helps me be more intentional and apply observation and correction more effectively.
2. To be transparent to others that they may also hold me to account and help sharpen me (GENTLY PLEASE) as they feel led by the Lord.
3. As I proceed prayerfully and intentionally, under the canopy of God's grace applying observation and correction along the way, my hope is that others can also learn a thing or two from my failings...make that "learnings"...and also from my victories in the Lord.

In a Nutshell
I am following an approach to eating that is outlined in the "Thin Within" book by Judy and Arthur Halliday. I am not focussing on measuring or weighing foods or labelling foods as "good" or "bad" but rather aiming to eat when I'm hungry ("0") and stop when I'm satisfied ("5"), focussing on the keys to conscious eating (listed in the right hand column).
Another central Thin Within (and more importantly biblical) teaching that I aim to use with this food log is observation and correction, living under the canopy of God's grace on the path of God's provision. In a nutshell it's about turning to God and confessing and repenting and the amazing grace and love of God that changes us from the inside out.

Keeping in mind at all times...
The most important aim of my life needs to be to "seek first His kingdom and His righteousness" (Matt. 6:33) and sit at my Lord's feet, feasting at the Lord's table (Ps. 23:5), getting "fat on Jesus," filling up on His Word and finding true satisfaction that can be found in Him alone. The Lord's Table study brought this into proper focus for me.
"Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

I don't see what your seeing. When I read what you ate, it doesn't look like you ate much throughout the day Christina. Now I don't know if the portions were huge, but what is written doesn't seem like you ate alot. I won't even tell you what I had for supper. let's just say it was at least two times more than what you ate for the entire day!! Wish I had those emotions I could place here with my mouth wide open!! lol
I will say, you did eat alot of sweet stuff though. Maybe that is what your talking about?
The toast was a really hearty homemade kind, so it really sticks to the ribs! If I had just stopped at the toast and cappaccino I wouldn't have felt so off track... But I was in the sweet grabbing mode, so I was digging through our halloween/christmas stash of candy. I felt mastered by the sweets at that point. And yes, there were a lot of sweets in the day. I like the sweets...but now that I think about it, my sleep last night was lousy and it may have had a lot to do with the sweets and not so much the coffee (which I was blaming it on so far).
Thanks for your feedback. I'm never so much into measuring foods. But I can tell when I've crossed the line and felt mastered by food. Sometimes it happens so subtly...and other times I feel like I could just chow down on anything and everything in sight!
Anyways, it is a new day, praise God. And I'm just taking things one step at a time:-)
Yep I think there may be some kind of connection between sweets and/or coffee and my sleep. I've zoned in on caffeine many times over the past year or so and felt it may have contributed towards sleep issues... I need to be careful when I partake in caffeinated drinks:-)
In regards to temps... -35 is NOTHING to blink at! That's very cold! And a typical winter day here in winter-peg:-)
However when the temps start to move towards the -40's and -50's (with wind chill of course) then we move into the deep-freeze time of the year which no one really enjoys!
And in all honesty, for all the bragging Manitobans do about being so tough with winter weather (most put their noses up at other Cdns figuring we are somehow "tougher" and need something to "brag" about!)....most friendly (which we really are!) Manitobans are just a bunch of "whiners":-)
Everybody starts to complain as soon as the weather hits freezing! So I determine NOT to complain about the weather (though sometimes I do make fact statements, like "boy that wind is sure cutting!" etc.) but rather, be thankful for the blue skies, pure white blanket covering the ground and quiet stillness that God has created at this time of year....AND DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!!!!
Most of the complaining happens when people don't dress properly!!!! :-) So I just accept that I'll look like a huge sumo wrestler for the winter in my (much too big) ski pants, bulky jacket, huge winter boots, scarf (always must have a scarf so the cold air doesn't creep down my neck!), head gear and even my hood when the wind really gets cutting...plus of course good old "garbage" mitts, nice big bulky leather mitts that are nice and toasty....
Boy there were a lot of grammatical language errors in this comment! hahahah! What a mess I made! Anyways, you get the picture.
Well, I'm off to spend some time with my Best Friend:-)
One rule I have for caffiene is after 6 pm. I WILL not have any. It can be hard at Bible Study when everyone is partaking, BUT I REFUSE to have a restless night. It's just not worth it. Once Friday hits, I will have coffee later in the evening. I find it helps me stay up later than me going to bed by 9 or 10 pm.lol.
My husband is the same way, he won't have coffee after 5 because he finds he has a difficult sleep at night. Do you have coffee later in the evening? Or is it just the comsumption during the day?
Very very rarely would I drink a caffeinated drink in the evening. If I have tea or coffee it is usually for breakfast or mid-morning/mid-afternoon break. Always before supper.
