Exercise: 25 minute jog
0-5 (11am)
small bowl of cereal, 1 yogurt with strawberries
2-5 (1pm)
2 slices banana bread w/ margarine
Note: Hoping this doesn't thow me off for the day. The banana bread was fresh out of the oven. I went a little past the one bite taste test I was intending.
2-5 (5pm)
3 chicken tacos with lots of fresh salsa, 2 pc banana bread, pop
I was just reading in TW ch. 5 today about fat machinery... I see some fat or flesh machinery in action today...ones that I have highlighted before.
#1.) I baked some yummy banana bread and fell into the taste-test trap, one of my greed triggers.
Planning for trials:I should just have waited another hour or two and I'd have been able to eat a small serving at #0! A good reminder for future baking days... Also, one of the loaves I cut into slices and bagged individual slices. In the past this has helped me stick to just one slice as a serving.
#2.) Then I made an authentic mexican supper--something special that I'd planned on trying out ever since we returned from Mexico--and ate before I was at #0.
Planning for trials: I'm really not sure what I should have realistically done differently here. I had this supper planned. I know it just isn't the same unless it is hot and fresh. I think the key is to make sure for special meals like this that I prepare ahead of time and make sure I'm hungry for supper.
#3.) Also, I have been failing to do my devotions for quite a few days and can certainly sense the need to plug back in and draw near to God.
Planning for trials: I need to stay plugged in to Him. I need more then just reading the TW book to "chew" on each day. I need to practice His presence and walk with Him moment by moment each day.
Purpose of this Log
1. To help hold me accountable to myself and to the Lord. It helps me be more intentional and apply observation and correction more effectively.
2. To be transparent to others that they may also hold me to account and help sharpen me (GENTLY PLEASE) as they feel led by the Lord.
3. As I proceed prayerfully and intentionally, under the canopy of God's grace applying observation and correction along the way, my hope is that others can also learn a thing or two from my failings...make that "learnings"...and also from my victories in the Lord.

In a Nutshell
I am following an approach to eating that is outlined in the "Thin Within" book by Judy and Arthur Halliday. I am not focussing on measuring or weighing foods or labelling foods as "good" or "bad" but rather aiming to eat when I'm hungry ("0") and stop when I'm satisfied ("5"), focussing on the keys to conscious eating (listed in the right hand column).
Another central Thin Within (and more importantly biblical) teaching that I aim to use with this food log is observation and correction, living under the canopy of God's grace on the path of God's provision. In a nutshell it's about turning to God and confessing and repenting and the amazing grace and love of God that changes us from the inside out.

Keeping in mind at all times...
The most important aim of my life needs to be to "seek first His kingdom and His righteousness" (Matt. 6:33) and sit at my Lord's feet, feasting at the Lord's table (Ps. 23:5), getting "fat on Jesus," filling up on His Word and finding true satisfaction that can be found in Him alone. The Lord's Table study brought this into proper focus for me.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31
